BRUNSON LANDS EAST POTW HONOR: The NBA said on Monday that Jalen Brunson, a point guard for the Knicks, and De’Aaron Fox of Sacramento, a Western star, were the recipients of the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award. Since signing a four-year, $104 million contract with the Knicks two summers ago, Brunson has received two such honors.

As the Knicks (8-5) begin a five-game road trip, Brunson has taken up the offensive slack. Through four games, he has averaged 28.5 points and 6.5 assists while shooting an impressive 54.3 percent from three-point range. This includes back-to-back weekends with 32-point performances, the first of which came on Friday in Washington during the Knicks’ inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament victory. In his first two In-Season Tournament games, Brunson has accumulated 77 points.

New York, which is currently 3-1 on the trip, will have the opportunity to end the trip on a positive note on Monday night in Minnesota (8 p.m. ET, MSG).

16-MILE BRIDGES ARE RETURNING IN NOVEMBER? One of the Charlotte Hornets’ players may be back from suspension in time for their Saturday matchup with the New York Knicks.

The following statement was issued by the Hornets:

“Miles Bridges is eligible to return to our active roster on Friday after serving his NBA suspension. We are comfortable with Miles returning to play based on our current understanding of the facts of the recent allegations and remain in contact with the NBA as that matter proceeds through the court process.”

Amidst an investigation into his arrest for domestic violence in June 2022, Bridges did not play in the previous season. Since April 2022, he has not participated in an NBA game, and he has entered a no contest plea to a “felony domestic violence charge of injuring a child’s parent and being sentenced to three years of probation without jail time.”

The Milwaukee Bucks will visit Charlotte (3-7) on Friday night (7 p.m. ET, Bally Sports Southeast) before the Knicks arrive.

SIMMONS TO “MISS TIME” ON NOVEMBER 14 When an MRI Agent Bernie Lee of Ben Simmons claims his client will “miss time” following an MRI that showed “nerve irritation on the lower left side of his body” for the Brooklyn Nets star.

“He’s not experiencing anything similar to what he’s gone through in the past,” Lee said, per Brian Lewis of the New York Post. “This is something that the expectation is that with the proper kind of rehab, he’ll be able to resume his season in a short period of time without any issue.”
