Zach Wilson, the starting quarterback for the New York Jets, has faced criticism, but the team has consistently insisted that there are problems with the offense as a whole.

“It’s lazy to just put it all on him,” head coach Robert Saleh reiterated this past week. “It was collective all the way across the board.”

Wilson has also received backing from Jets management behind closed doors.

Sources claim that following New York’s humiliating 27-6 defeat to the Chargers on November 6, quarterback Carson Wentz, a free agent, checked in with the Jets’ camp. Wentz signed with the Los Angeles Rams on November 7.

Since they lost Aaron Rodgers to a ruptured Achilles in Week 1, the Jets had Wentz on their short list of possible free-agent quarterbacks, according to sources. The idea was to sign Wentz as a starting alternative in case the team lost confidence in Wilson.
