Quarterback Matthew Stafford provided the Los Angeles Rams with another positive injury update.

With a sprained UCL in his thumb, quarterback Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams is expected to play against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Stafford missed last week’s game against the Green Bay Packers due to injury.

While the Rams are currently enjoying their only bye week of the season, Stafford made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday, where he gave encouraging news regarding his injury status.

“Thumb’s feeling better than I thought it would,” Stafford said. “I was a little bit scared in the Dallas game it was going to be worse than it was and just happy it’s not. I’m going to do whatever I need to be out there.”

The Rams benched Stafford in favor of Brett Rypien at quarterback, albeit Rypien’s performance wasn’t quite what the team had hoped for. Rypien added three rushes for 19 yards and completed 13 of 28 throws for 130 yards and an interception.

In six quarters without Stafford signing, the Rams managed just 14 points. On Tuesday, Rypien was released.

During the season, Stafford, 35, has completed 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions on 59.7% of his passes.

Rams coach Sean McVay said Monday that Stafford is trending in the right direction to play against Seattle, and the team’s recent addition of veteran Carson Wentz was made primarily with the backup role in mind.

During the bye week, Stafford shared he stayed on the west coast and relaxed with a focus on healing – and the returns have been positive.

“Body is feeling decent,” Stafford said. “Trying to get the thumb back up to speed and ready to go for Seattle when we get back.”

The Rams will get ready for the Seahawks game on November 19 at 4:25 p.m. at Sofi Stadium after returning from their bye week.
