In Week 8, Matthew Stafford became the most recent quarterback to sustain an injury.

The quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams struck his right thumb twice, first on Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys and later on Mazi Smith. As a result, he was in obvious agony and preferred his thumb. When he came back into the game, he scored a touchdown to end a seven-play drive. Prior to halftime, Stafford was observed favoring his thumb.

In the third quarter, he was a part of a trick play that resulted in a touchdown, bringing the score to 33-17. He also returned for the first series of the second half. However, Stafford’s thumb injury ultimately forced him to leave the game a second time.

Stafford, who had his thumb heavily bandaged, returned to the sidelines and was replaced by Brett Rypien. He was trying to hold onto a football. The Rams declared him doubtful to play again.

Prior to the injury, Stafford completed 13 of 22 passes for 162 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
