Robert Taylor, an Inter Miami star, caught people’s attention on social media when he decided to humorously pay tribute to Lionel Messi’s well-known bodyguard, Yassine Chueko.
Robert Taylor, Lionel Messi’s teammate, honoured the Argentinean player’s internet-famous bodyguard with a remarkable Halloween costume.
A common feature of the MLS team’s games in recent months has been the personal security of the Inter Miami talisman watching on from the sidelines. Yassine Chueko has won over admirers worldwide with his unwavering commitment to securing his client’s safety, despite purportedly taking on the post at David Beckham’s request.
Since the summer, the former US Navy Seal has intervened multiple times to stop fans from approaching Messi during Vice City games. Once, during Miami’s matchup with LAFC last month, he grabbed a pitch invader by the neck; the video went viral.
It seems that Messi’s teammates have also been captivated by the bodyguard’s activities, as midfielder Taylor honoured the bodyguard during a Halloween celebration. Funnily enough, the Finland international looked remarkably similar to Chueko once he put on the same clothes as the former MMA fighter.
Taylor posed with his fists clinched in a photo that was shared on his Instagram page, perfectly encapsulating Chueko’s persona. He would also don the same black Adidas tracksuit that the bodyguard is known for wearing as part of his ensemble.
He would also don a bald cap and a phoney beard to complete his amazing metamorphosis, which greatly enhanced his resemblance. The Miami star also wore an arm sleeve with some phoney muscles, an attempt to mirror Chueko’s toned figure.
Although it’s unclear if Messi agreed with his teammate’s Halloween costume selection, it’s certain that the two have become close in recent months. With the arrival of the Argentine icon, Taylor’s form took off, finishing the season with eight goals in 40 appearances.
Nonetheless, the 32-year-old international has previously praised Messi and the impact the legendary winger has already had on the Herons. In his earlier remarks, he looked back on his career and could not contain his happiness at having the superstar share a dressing room.
“I would have laughed in their face a few years ago when I was sitting on the bench for Lincoln Moorlands, knowing that I would be playing with Messi and [Sergio] Busquets,” he stated. The coach informed me that I wasn’t strong enough or generally competent enough while I was sitting on the bench and couldn’t play any minutes in non-league ball.
“I was just sitting on the bench watching. It tested me when I was younger. I was calling my parents back home in Finland and saying maybe I want to look for something, other options.”
