Injury updates about Liverpool before of the Group E matchup versus Toulouse at Anfield.
Liverpool will host Toulouse at Anfield on Thursday at 20:00 BST in an attempt to build on their unbeaten start to the Europa League season.
The Reds are considered favourites to win Europe’s second-tier championship, and thus far, that prediction seems warranted. The first two Group E matches between Jurgen Klopp’s team and LASK and Union SG, respectively, have ended in victories. And Liverpool will get closer to making it to the next round of qualifying with a third straight victory.
After winning 2-0 over Everton in the Merseyside derby last Saturday, the Reds have also been playing well in the Premier League. To face Toulouse, a Ligue 1 team now in 10th place, Klopp is likely to alter that starting lineup. With four points thus far, Les Violets are second in Group E. If they win at Anfield, they would pass the Reds in the race to win the group.
Here is an early assessment of the injury situation for both teams prior to the game.
1. Zakaria Aboukhlal – out
The forward has a knee issue. He assisted Morocco in reaching the 2022 World Cup semifinals. For Toulouse this season, he has three goals.
2. Oliver Zanden – out
Due to a hip injury, the Swedish left-back has not yet played this season.
3. Ibrahim Cissoko – out
After joining Toulouse from NEC in the summer, the winger has not yet been on the pitch. He’s got a foot problem.
4. Cody Gakpo – minor doubt
Despite practising ahead of the Merseyside Derby, the forward was not risked. Due to a knee issue, Klopp needs to decide if to start him this weekend or save him for later.
5. Ben Doak: Minor doubt
If suitable, Doak might have another opportunity. But while playing for Scotland under-21, he sustained a minor muscle ailment, which kept him out of the derby.
6. Andy Robertson – out
Due to a shoulder injury, the left-back might not play for Liverpool again this season.
7. Thiago Alcantara – out
The midfielder had hip surgery in April and hasn’t appeared on the pitch for Liverpool since. He has seen some obstacles in his healing.
8. Stefan Bajcetic – out
The juvenile midfielder’s calf issue developed after he made a full recovery from a chronic adductor ailment. Since he wasn’t in training last week, he won’t likely be taken into account.
9. Adrian – out
The custodian is not officially registered for Liverpool’s Europa League group stage competition.
10. Curtis Jones – return
The midfield player can still play for Liverpool in Europe even if he is still suspended in the Premier League.
