The majority of Colombian fans’ wrath is directed at Liverpool forward Luis Diaz after he missed a penalty last night.

Last night, Diaz played a significant role in his nation’s winning a penalty kick against Ecuador after a fantastic wing play. The Reds No. 7 then took a step forward and witnessed Moises Ramirez save his penalty.

It was another challenging time for Diaz, who has been having a little bit of a dry patch in front of goal. El Espectador, a Colombian publication, claims that as a result, the 26-year-old’s supporters are starting to lose patience with him.

They assert that Lucho’s situation with the national squad is “not going well at the moment.” According to reports, this has made the Liverpool winger a “target” for irate supporters on social media.

It’s said that Diaz was once again “trending” on Tuesday night despite his “extraordinary” play that resulted in the penalty incident. Not in a nice way, either. Get yourself back to Liverpool, Lucho.

Diaz is getting abuse from fans

Darwin Nunez was the talk of Uruguay last night after helping his nation defeat Brazil for the first time in 22 years with a goal and an assist, but Diaz’s evening was quite the reverse.

Unfortunately, it appears that for the former Porto player, this has been the norm over the previous few months.

Although Lucho continues to perform admirably, he just can’t seem to consistently score goals.

He had the perfect opportunity to put an end to that last night. However, in somewhat typical form, the Colombian’s luck just wasn’t in.

It’s unfortunate that his has elicited some negative responses from fans online. Diaz gives every game his all, whether he scores or not. He is not deserving of that.

He is currently his country’s talisman, though, at the same time. They didn’t make it to the 2022 World Cup and haven’t exactly made a strong start to the next qualifying round either. That will undoubtedly lead to frustration.

But Lucho will not give up or submit. The Liverpool man is a character with the utmost tenacity. Let’s hope it will act as motivation for him to move forward rather than in the opposite direction.
