With a 3-1 victory over Leicester City last night, Liverpool maintained their excellent start to the season.

After a strong start to the new season, Liverpool’s summer transfer business appears to have been very successful.

On September 1, following four signings that brought their summer spending to above £150m, Ryan Gravenberch was the last name to come through the door, putting an end to months of rumors.

Fans were, to put it mildly, appreciative of their summertime dealings after the disappointment of missing out on Jude Bellingham, the hiring of sporting director Jorg Schmadtke, and the loss of previously important players like Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

But with victories in the Carabao Cup, Europa League, and five victories in six league games, they can look back on a summer midfield reconstruction that Jurgen Klopp and Schmadtke orchestrated and that has thus far met every requirement.

taking off right away

Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister were their two main midfield acquisitions, so it was crucial that they were both signed before the start of preseason so that they could both integrate into the team and start the season’s opening match away at Chelsea.

Although Gravenberch and Wataru Endo arrived later in the window, it has contributed to their excellent start, and both of them have started to settle following their recent victories. Szoboszlai and Mac Allister, though, stand out as two of their greatest players thus far, with supporters praising the Hungarian international for an incredible goal against Leicester City.

An amazing statistic was discovered after Liverpool’s 3-1 EFL Cup victory over The Foxes. The four players in the middle of the field have contributed to as many goals (six) as did Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain combined throughout the course of the entire previous season.

Just one goal short of Manchester City, this has led to 15 goals across all competitions at an average of 2.50 goals per game.

Depth in strength (and quality)

Liverpool’s lack of quality depth that seemed to have prevented them from doing more in recent seasons when they fell short against Manchester City and other teams has been a major point of criticism.

Key player injuries in the past have made the club weaker overall, but this season it doesn’t seem to be the case.

In addition to their new acquisitions, they also have young players like Thiago, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot, and Stefan Bajcetic who can each provide something unique to the team.

Gravenberch and Endo are still a few weeks behind players like Mac Allister and Szoboszlai, so it’s difficult to determine which of Liverpool’s midfielders are the finest, but Curtis Jones’ notable advancements must undoubtedly position him alongside the two summer acquisitions.

The next three to five years for Liverpool look very exciting, especially given that the majority of their midfielders are under the age of 24. The rebuild has replaced injury-prone, inconsistent players with younger, sharper, and fitter players who better fit Klopp’s style of play.

A deep squad was necessary because Liverpool was anticipated to contend on all fronts this season. As a result of Schmadtke’s transactions, it appears that Liverpool has updated their team with the ideal balance of talent and experience as well as an excess of quality that has fans dreaming once more.
