Liverpool supporters who watch the academy have taken notice of the young defender, and he could have a bright future.

Following the U21 team’s victory in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night at Morecombe, Liverpool may have another promising young player on their hands.

The young Reds defeated Morecombe, a League Two team that plays in the Football League, by a score of three goals to nil in an excellent performance. Mateusz Musialowski, Calum Scanlon, and Bobby Clark scored the goals for the young Reds.

After his performance against Football League foe Morecambe on Tuesday night, journalist Neil Jones, who covers Liverpool for LFCTV, commended him: “But a word for Carter Pinnington, too. He was playing center back at the age of 16, and he was fantastic.

In the academy, Carter Pinnington has emerged as a revelation. His most recent performances demonstrate his ability to play five years older than his present age group.

At the age of 16, he has already made four appearances for the U21 team, where he is now the starting center-back.

In addition to being a strong favorite for his team, he has represented England at the U15 and U16 levels and is only getting better.

Additionally, there was a spectacular display of defending when Pinnington made a last-ditch sliding tackle to stop one of their forwards from breaking in on goal. This play has gone viral on social media.

He appears at least 6’3-4, incredible for that age, wrote one fan in response to the video.

Another responded, “He’s only 16 and played for U-21? Wow.’

According to the LFC website, he is a first-year scholar for the current 2023–24 season and can also play as a holding midfielder in addition to his native position of center-back. Additionally, he has worked at the club since he was seven years old.

The route for players from the academy seems all the more promising with Ben Doak signing a new deal this week, Curtis Jones completing 100 appearances, and Jarrel Quansah making his full Liverpool debut.

The defender still has years to go in his development, but given his youthful physicality and the experience he will likely gain over the next several years in the academy, he may become a name we hear more often in the future.
