Liverpool transfer news: A defender for whom ‘advanced negotiations’ have reportedly been given the ‘green light’ by manager Jürgen Klopp is linked, as is a forward from Real Madrid who is worth $107 million.

Liverpool didn’t make adequate squad improvements in the transfer market in the summer of 2022 because they decided against bringing in a midfielder at that time, which cost them the opportunity to compete in the Champions League this season.

In order to fix that section of the field a year ago, four midfielders had to be acquired. Now, Jürgen Klopp’s defense need a comparable amount of effort because an elderly bunch needs to be revitalized as quickly as possible.

Liverpool should have acquired a defender during the most recent summer transfer window, but that did not occur. A plausible moment for that to occur would be now, in January, or at the latest next summer.

Additionally, the rumors linking Mohamed Salah to a highly lucrative move to Saudi Arabia have not yet come to an end. A significant choice needs to be made about the Egyptian, whose contract ends in less than two years and is currently regarded as untouchable.

Here is Liverpool.com’s assessment on the transfer rumors that have been swirling around the Reds lately.

Piero Hincapié (Bayer Leverkusen)

According to Fichajes, Liverpool and the Bayer Leverkusen defender are in “advanced talks” regarding a $59 million (£48 million/€55 million) transfer.

Six months before Jol Matip’s contract expires at the end of the season, Jürgen Klopp is rumored to have given the “all clear” for defensive reinforcements to be brought in during the winter transfer window.

The highly regarded Hincapié, 21, has been making a big impression in the Bundesliga under Xabi Alonso. He is a left-sided defender who seems to be a suitable match for the Reds’ requirements.

It makes a lot more sense for Liverpool to recruit a defender in January rather than wait until the summer, according to Liverpool.com. The necessity will only grow if one hasn’t been done previously. Getting someone comfortable in for the second part of the season may be really helpful if Matip is to leave.

Rodrygo (Real Madrid)

According to Ficjahes, Liverpool’s ‘new star target’ is Real Madrid and Brazil striker Rodrygo as the Reds prepare for the possibility that Salah exits next summer due to interest from Saudi Arabia.

When Kylian Mbappé’s PSG contract ends, Real Madrid wants to sign him, and Vincius Jnior is seen as being untouchable, thus Rodrygo might be on the move and fall farther down the pecking order.

The 22-year-old, who joined Real Madrid from Santos in 2019 for a fee of almost half that amount, is valued at $107m (£87m/€100m).

According to Liverpool.com, Rodrygo is a top prospect and a player that Liverpool has previously looked at. Salah staying put at Anfield without a successor, however, would still be ideal.
