According to Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool will not use the Europa League as a “experiment” this season, and he intends to have “a top team” in both competitions in addition to the Premier League.

On Thursday, the Reds, who had a promising start to the domestic season, will begin their European campaign away at LASK.

In 2023–24, Klopp’s team has won four of five Premier League games as they strive to, at the very least, return to the Champions League for the following season. Many fans wanted to see more of youthful talents like Ben Doak and Bobby Clark, so they had anticipated that Klopp would use the Europa League, which Liverpool is playing in for the first time since losing the 2015/16 final, as a testing ground for some of their up-and-coming prospects. The Reds manager, meanwhile, has downplayed rumors that the competition will be treated like a sandbox.

According to Klopp, “If there will be kids involved, that depends on the level the kids can show at that particular time.” “There is genuine talent there, but it is not novel. The general notion is that we should have enough players to field a top squad on Thursday and Sunday if we are not hit by an injury crisis. After that, we’ll decide how to form a squad. To be honest, I hadn’t given it much thought yet. In football, long-term plans of this nature are completely useless because they can be abandoned for any reason almost immediately after being created.

We shall see, but our children are good. When you have all these kids in training, that is the advantage of the most recent international break. Boys who were 16 years old and highly talented and good were present. There are some good players in the academy, and for all the Liverpool supporters out there, I’m very confident the future’s bright. I can’t wait for them, but for the time we leave them where they are, they shall develop and all these types of things. The team with the greatest UEFA coefficient entering the 2023–24 Europa League is Liverpool, and they are the early favorites to win the trophy in Dublin in May. Liverpool’s position was acknowledged by Klopp, but he emphasized he is not taking anything for granted.
First and foremost, according to Klopp, “I think we all have to make sure that we respect the competition and the opponents in the right manner.”

“Everyone who comes to Anfield it will be a massive game. Wherever we go it will be a massive game for the teams. We must be completely prepared for that because it was the same in the [UEFA] Champions League and it will be the same here.In some way, we wish to advance as far as we can. I definitely would want to make it to the final, but I have no idea if we will be able to do so given the number of outstanding football teams that will be standing in our way. As a result, we must make sure we deliver.
