As the deadline draws near, Marc Stein discusses the NBA trade market with Bonta Hill, Dorell Wright, and Monte Poole on “Warriors Pregame Live” and analyzes Golden State’s circumstances.
After the Warriors’ 145-144 double overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night at Chase Center, Steph Curry’s fury was clear.
As he left the floor and headed into the tunnel, the Warriors star tore his jersey shortly after the team’s defeat, 19-24.
After scoring 46 points in the double-OT loss—including the game-winning 3-pointer with 5.2 seconds left in the second extra period—Curry is upset because he saw LeBron James make two free throws with 1.2 seconds left to give the Lakers an unlikely victory.
In response to questions concerning the Warriors’ fury, which was epitomized by Curry ripping his jersey, Warriors coach Steve Kerr shared with media what he had told his players following the game.
Kerr told reporters, “Exactly what I just told you guys, that we’re going to get this thing turned. I believe in them. We’ve been through so much this year but the season’s only half-way over. There’s a long way to go and we’ve got a lot of good stuff ahead of us.”
The Warriors suffered two devastating one-point losses in a row, the first coming on Thursday against the Kings.
With 17 of 35 field goals and 9 of 21 three-pointers against the Lakers, Curry gave it his all. Even Draymond Green (plus-31 in 46 minutes), Klay Thompson (24 points in 47 minutes), Andrew Wiggins (22 points), and Jonathan Kuminga (22 points) provided him with a great deal of assistance.
Curry and the Warriors will take Tuesday night at Chase Center as their home team against the Philadelphia 76ers after two days off.
