Rams vs. Ravens final score: Los Angeles suffers a heartbreaking loss in Baltimore
The Baltimore Ravens (10-3) defeated the Los Angeles Rams (6-7) 37-31 in the end. Both Lamar Jackson and Matthew Stafford showed up for this game, and both teams played well overall. This game could have gone either way because neither team was able to seem to shut the door on the other, even though both teams appear ready for the rainy conditions. A play would be made on defense by one team, and an offensive or special teams play by the other, or one team would score and the other would reply. In the NFL, there are no moral triumphs, but both teams produce a lot of excellent films these days.
Lucas Havrisik’s field goal gave the Rams the advantage in the scoring department, but the Ravens would end up with the first touchdown of the game.
LA would answer with a stunning pass from Stafford to Cooper Kupp for their first touchdown.
There has been talk about Kupp’s future in Los Angeles, but following a performance like this one, I believe it’s safe to say Rams supporters are still pleased that he’s working with Sean McVay and company.
Not to be outdone, Cooper had a pre-game conversation with Odell Backam Jr., a former Super Bowl champion with the Rams and “friend” of Kupp:
Both quarterbacks did a decent job of throwing the ball today despite the unfavorable weather, and there were moments when the game felt like a shootout.
While remaining in the game, both teams were responding to each other and showing up. The first three quarters saw the Nether team really pull away with a lead. It was evident that both teams wanted to win this close, hard-fought match.
The Rams offense appeared to stagnate after the half, as the squad failed to muster any drives and failed to score any points in the third quarter. Though the Rams defense managed to force a safety, it appeared as though LA was giving up the complementary football that had kept them in the game until now.
For stretches of the fourth quarter, Los Angeles appeared careless. Austin Trammell mishandled a punt but was able to recover the ball, and Puka Nacua made an unusual drop. Unlike the previous few games, LA did not appear to be playing their best ball in the second half for whatever reason. But this team has been somewhat of a mystery all season, and with less than six minutes left in the fourth quarter, LA found a new gear even though it appeared like they were out of ideas.
This season, is Stafford performing at a pro bowl level? You inform me.
LA would attempt, but fail, to convert a two-point conversion. With plenty of time on their hands, Baltimore needed a touchdown to take the lead. At the two-minute warning, the Ravens had the opportunity to take the lead after moving the ball and getting into scoring position. Jackson would do exactly that on a third and seventeen.
This dramatic game went into overtime as Stafford kept up his strong play and guided the Rams to a field goal to tie the score 31–31.
With the toss won, the Ravens elected to receive, setting themselves up for a touchdown to win. Rebounding from their previous game, the Rams defense forced a punt from Baltimore, putting LA in position to win by any score. Rather, the Rams would have to punt once more, allowing Baltimore to score and escape with victory.
That’s exactly what the Ravens would do, winning the game with a touchdown following the LA punt. Rams fall short, 37–31.
