Dallas Cowboys vs. Eagles Preview: Sunday Night Showdown, Final Injury Update, Dak vs. Hurts MVP Race

Sunday night’s NFC East game between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles features a star-studded lineup with playoff and MVP implications for both teams.

Dallas’ home winning streak of 15 games, the longest in the NFL, would be extended with a victory, paving the way for the team to finish as the NFC’s top seed. In the meantime, Sunday night may be the pivotal moment for quarterbacks Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts, who are among the heavy favorites to win the league’s Most Valuable Player award.

The Cowboys, who defeated the Seattle Seahawks last Thursday night in a thrilling 41-35 victory, have the advantage going forward. On Sunday night, the Eagles lost badly, 42-19, at home against the San Francisco 49ers.

What about the latest injury update? As you can see from the “final” and “official” injury reports, everything is generally going well on both ends.

History demonstrates Prescott’s dominance over division rivals. In his career, he has a 30-8 record against the NFC East. With thirty victories against the NFC East since 2016, Prescott is second only to Tom Brady (31) in terms of victories against his division.

It’s Sunday night and Prescott is under record watch. He currently owns the longest active streak in the NFL after throwing for multiple touchdown passes in six straight games. If he scores two or more passing touchdowns on Sunday, he will tie Tony Romo for the longest streak in the team’s history (seven games).

Under head coach Nick Sirianni, the Eagles are undefeated on Sunday Night Football. Additionally, Philadelphia has defeated Dallas in two of the previous three meetings, most recently in Week 9 at Lincoln Financial Field by a score of 28 to 23.

With 31 total touchdowns this season, quarterback Hurts is second in the league. The Dallas defense aims to stop him. Watch out for D’Andre Swift, the NFL’s fourth-most rushing yardage (783), at running back.

PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS: Given that Dallas has one more NFC East victory than Philadelphia, a victory would move Dallas up to the top of the division.

But what if each team wins the remaining games? This is an advantage that would vanish because the Cowboys would lose on the third tie-breaker, best record in games against common opponents, if the Eagles dominate their final four games and Dallas does the same in its final five.

Philly has the lowly Arizona Cardinals coming up on the schedule … who Dallas already lost to.
