Unfortunately, C.J. Stroud’s continued dominance in Houston means that Los Angeles Rams rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua has no chance of winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. However, the gifted receiver is still receiving credit for his achievements, most recently from LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron was present at the Rams’ thrilling victory over James’ hometown team, the Cleveland Browns. Nevertheless, the Lakers star continued to give credit where credit was due, and Nacua is unquestionably deserving of all that is being given to him.

Nacua broke the franchise record for receiving yards by a rookie, with 1,029 yards, and finished with four catches for 105 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown. The Lakers player then congratulated Nacua on his achievement on social media:

Without a doubt, Nacua has been nothing short of amazing for the Rams this year. Cooper Kupp has been dealing with injuries, so Nacua has stepped up and established himself as a key component of this Rams offense and a true draft day steal.

On Sunday, James not only saw that firsthand but also witnessed the Rams rookie’s extreme toughness. Nacua made an incredible 20-yard reception down the sideline before leaving the game in the second quarter. Regretfully, he struck the ball and suffered injuries to his shoulder and ribs. He would remain on the field for a short while before standing up and making his way off the field slowly.

However, Nacua would return to the field to begin the second half and immediately get into the action, throwing a block on his first play back after undergoing some testing in the locker room. The coaches and teammates of the Rams were very pleased and proud of the toughness he displayed.

He did not record another reception in the second half, but he did record a 31-yard run during the Rams’ third-quarter touchdown drive, which gave them a decisive lead.

Nacua still has five games left to extend this Rams rookie record to a level that will be difficult to top in the years to come. LeBron James, a living legend, gave him the opportunity to showcase his skills, and The King saw through his brilliance.
