Joe Flacco will start for the Cleveland Browns against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday in Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s absence.

On Wednesday, the Browns moved Flacco up to the No. 2 quarterback position. The seasoned player outpaced PJ Walker, who has been Thompson-Robinson’s primary backup since the starter. This season, Walker has also started games.

With Thompson-Robinson out due to a concussion, Flacco is playing with the starting lineup. Prior to the team’s practice in Los Angeles on Wednesday, November 29, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski made the announcement.

Stefanski remarked, “We’ll work through that throughout the week.” “This week, Joe serves as a backup while Dorian moves through the protocol.”

After losing to the Denver Broncos 29–12, the Browns are in need of a comeback going into the upcoming week. Cleveland’s record is 7-4; they need to start winning more games to have a chance to compete in the AFC playoffs. In the upcoming days, Flacco is anticipated to be added to the active roster.

Joe Flacco Getting Up to Speed in Cleveland

At 38 years old, Flacco has a wealth of experience, having won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013. In that game, Flacco was named the MVP of the Super Bowl. In 2022, he made his debut as a starter for the New York Jets. In four starts, he passed for 1,051 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Flacco appears to be the best choice right now to try to spark the Browns’ offense. In the two games since Deshaun Watson was declared out for the season, the Browns have only managed an average of 11 points per game.

Flacco signed a few days ago, so he was inactive against the Broncos. The Browns, however, are pleased with the veteran’s development prior to their most recent away game.

Stefanski stated, “Joe knows how it works because, as you guys know, he’s been in a lot of different systems and buildings. He is aware of the subtle differences between various operations. He is thus catching up on our activities. He performed admirably.”

Flacco finished his career with a 99-81 record, 232 touchdowns, and 147 interceptions. In the postseason, he has a 10-5 record, which would be helpful if the Browns made it there.

Joe Flacco Wants to Show That He’s Still Got It

Because there are so many quarterback injuries occurring throughout the league, Flacco isn’t ready to give up on the game and is waiting for his phone to ring. Flacco hopes to demonstrate once more that he still has what it takes to compete in the NFL.

On November 22, Flacco stated, “(Football) is all I know to a certain extent.” “I still enjoy doing it a lot. I owe it to myself to keep going and try to play the game I love until I truly feel like I can no longer play it because I do feel like I have stuff left in the tank.”

After a 3-6 start to the season, the Rams have won their past two games when the Browns visit them. In this game, Cleveland is a 3.5-point underdog.
