Liverpool is prepared to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to defeating the greatest teams in Europe, including Bayer Levekusen’s Florian Wirtz.
The Spanish publication Nacional claims that Liverpool is getting ready to make Wirtz a signing offer.
The Reds, they say, are “preparing an offer of €90 million” (£78 million), which they think is the maximum sum “they can offer to convince Alonso’s team to agree to let Wirtz go.”
Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are also “attentive” to any information regarding his future at the BayArena.
According to the article, Klopp has “convinced” Wirtz to transfer to Anfield, but club president Joan Laporta “seems to have lost hand in hand with Klopp” despite Barcelona’s interest in the 20-year-old.
In what would be a huge coup, Liverpool apparently already has the money needed to sign him during the summer transfer window of 2024.
With six goals and ten assists so far this season, Wirtz has well outscored any Liverpool midfielder.
Naturally, Klopp’s midfielders are not supposed to score goals; instead, they are supposed to put in the hard work so that players like Mohamed Salah may benefit from it.
Wirtz may relocate to Anfield, perhaps, but Lewis Steele, a Daily Mail writer, has cast doubt on this tale.
“There’s no concrete interest yet in Florian Wirtz but that doesn’t mean he is not on Liverpool’s radar,” he said to Liverpool supporters during a Q&A last week. They examine numerous players.
“Reports in Germany suggest this one is a lot more advanced than it is. He’s a great player and his statistics are excellent, with Xabi Alonso helping find a new level to his game.
“It’s one to watch in the future but nothing happening yet.”
