Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota were added to Liverpool’s injury list on Saturday while manager Jurgen Klopp mulls over several crucial choices.

Due to injuries sustained by Diogo Jota and Alisson Becker during Saturday’s draw against Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp will have to wait to worry about their fitness.

Shortly after halftime at the Etihad, Luis Diaz took Jota’s place. Later in the game, as City pushed for a winner, Alisson required medical attention; the Reds’ medical staff took care of him after the final whistle.

Prior to a hectic month of action for Klopp’s team, the two may be added to the Anfield sidelines alongside Stefan Bajcetic, Andy Robertson, and Thiago Alcantara. Here are the most recent information and projected return dates for the Reds’ injured roster.

Alisson Becker

The Brazilian was seen holding his hamstring as he left the field at full time, and Klopp seemed to imply that the injury occurred following Saturday’s draw at the Etihad.

The Liverpool manager made the following statement during his post-match press conference: “I hope it’s not that serious, but I don’t have the answer – I have no clue what it is at this moment.” He told me he only felt a slight sensation, but we still need to wait for the scan.

Anticipated date of return: Unknown

Diogo Jota

Jota was one of the Reds’ traveling group that, like Alisson, left East Manchester with his fitness called into question.

Early in the second half, the Portugal international went down unmarked, clutching a muscle, and Diaz replaced him quickly.

Jota may miss matches against LASK and Fulham as a result of scans he will receive at the AXA Training Centre this week while Liverpool continues to evaluate the severity of his problem.

Anticipated return date: Not known

Andy Robertson

After dislocating his shoulder in October, Kostas Tsimikas, a Scotland international, is expected to fill in for Robertson at least through January.

Since colliding with Unai Simon during Scotland’s Euro 2024 qualifying match against Spain last month, the left-back has not appeared on the field for either club or nation.

Robertson gave a status report on his health last week, saying, “It’s going well so far; it’s been three weeks since my surgery. I simply need to approach things week by week and bit by bit. So far, everything has gone smoothly; hopefully, this will continue.”

Date of anticipated return: January 2024

Thiago Alcantara

It is anticipated that Thiago will be able to play again in January. If his seven-month recuperation has taught him anything, it’s that injury recoveries almost never go as planned.

Since the Reds’ 2-1 victory over West Ham United in April, the Spaniard has not played for the team. It was determined that he would benefit from skipping the 2022–2023 season in order to return in time for the summer.

This hasn’t been the case for the Spaniard, who experienced a setback early in the new season after making a brief comeback to training in the summer.

Earlier this month, when discussing Thiago with reporters, Klopp stated, “It’s an ongoing thing, and we cannot put any kind of pressure on.” We anticipate his return, which I believe will likely occur at the beginning of the New Year. It seems reasonable to try that.”

Date of anticipated return: January 2023

Stefan Bajcetic

Like Thiago, Bajcetic has struggled with injuries at Anfield, playing in just two games across all competitions.

The Spaniard first sustained an adductor injury in March, which has since hindered his progress. He is currently experiencing another setback.

Speaking last week, Bajcetic gave an update on his health, saying: “Because I had the same injury in the past, but on the opposite side, I kind of thought that it would be the same when I was experiencing pain.

“But I kept thinking that things couldn’t be the same and that I had to keep playing.

“However, I performed a scan. Unfairly, scans never fail to reveal something. When they called me while I was at home, they said I had a stress reaction. It was obviously a difficult moment, but I believe I handled it fairly well. I saw it as a chance to strengthen myself and make some improvements. I just made an effort to think positively.”
