Manchester City have got a whole host of players out on loan this season.

This season, Manchester City has an abundance of players out on loan throughout Europe, as has become the norm.

Many of the names aren’t even instantly recognisable because of how meticulously City has signed talented players from all over the world. At least 17 players from City, including both established players and bright future prospects, are currently playing for another team this season.

Here is how a select number are getting on so far:

Joao Cancelo: who is spending the season at Barcelona after his relationship with Pep Guardiola deteriorated last season, is City’s most well-known loanee. This move nearly ended Cancelo’s career at City. Nonetheless, the full-back is having fun in Catalonia as Xavi’s team’s consistent starter. He has already achieved two of his goals.

Maximo Perrone: Although he was in the first team squad the previous season, midfielder Maximo Perrone did not see much action. Though he has struggled to earn starts, he joined Las Palmas in an attempt to accrue more playing time. Out of his eight appearances, only two have been from the off, and both of those games were won. Still no goals or assists for him.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis: Taylor Harwood-Bellis, the newest Southampton summer transfer from City, has started eight of the team’s ten games. Saints’ return to the Championship didn’t start off well, but a string of victories has seen them move up to fourth place. Harwood-Bellis scored his first goal of the season this past weekend.

James McAtee: is a dynamic playwright. James McAtee made an impression during preseason and appeared to be a long-term member of the squad, but he ultimately went back on loan to Sheffield United. Although he has been seeing a good amount of playing time, the Blades are only one point from the bottom of the table and are having difficulty.

Issa Kabore: Although he was signed by City in 2020, the versatile defender has not even appeared on the pitch for the EDS. Rather, he has been on loan at Luton Town for the past three years. He has participated in all but one of the Hatters’ games this year, making an impact at right midfield and right back.

Tommy Doyle: As part of the Matheus Nunes trade, Tommy Doyle went on loan to Wolves; since this is his last year with City, this may be the last time he goes on loan. Due to injury, he hasn’t started yet at Molineux but is progressively gaining more playing time.

Left-back Joshua Wilson-Esbrand : Josh Wilson-Esbrand is seeing a respectable amount of action in France after landing a tasty loan at Ligue 1 team Stade Reims in the summer. After seven games, the 20-year-old scored his first goal on Saturday.

Liam Delap: The striker, who has already scored four goals more at Hull City than he did at Stoke and Preston, is on his way to Hull City for his third Championship loan spell.

Luke Mbette: This season, Luke Mbette moved further afield, joining Dutch second-tier side Den Bosch, after spending the second half of last season at Bolton Wanderers. The center-back has made five starts and this past weekend scored his first goal, albeit in a 5-1 loss.

Callum Doyle: Fellow centre-back Callum Doyle made a strong start to life at Leicester City and went straight in as a starting defender. However, he picked up a serious injury towards the end of September and is expected to be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
