Matthew Stafford, the quarterback for the Rams, seemed to be getting every safety measures imaginable to safeguard him in anticipation of a make-or-break November.

In a press conference Wednesday afternoon, Los Angeles coach Sean McVay said Stafford would skip practice on Wednesday. After sustaining a UCL sprain during the Rams’ 43-20 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday, the veteran is still considered day-to-day.

“You use all the time necessary for a player like him because of his obvious reps and experience,” McVay told reporters.

In eight games this season, Stafford, 35, has thrown eight touchdowns against seven interceptions. This is his third season with Los Angeles after being traded by the Lions in March 2021.

The Rams would probably turn to backup quarterback Brett Rypien if Stafford’s thumb held him out. In relief of Stafford on Sunday, Rypien, a fifth-year pro from Boise State, completed five of ten throws for 42 yards.

On Sunday, Los Angeles will go to the Packers in order to prepare for back-to-back divisional games against the Cardinals and Seahawks.
