Youngster Ezequiel Fernandez of Boca Juniors is supposedly a target for clubs like Liverpool, AC Milan, and Benfica.

The Reds are ‘obsessed’ with the idea of signing the 21-year-old, who is anticipated to transfer to Europe next year after breaking out in Argentina, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Many consider Fernandez, who was raised at FC Barcelona’s renowned La Masia, to be one of South America’s most promising midfield talents, and Liverpool are now keeping an eye on the kid.

In January, Jurgen Klopp’s team is anticipated to make a midfield acquisition. South America currently appears to be the preferred market, with Fluminense’s Andre Trindade also a target for Liverpool.

In fact, Fernandez would be less expensive than the Brazilian possibility, and this most recent development appears to indicate that Liverpool is willing to invest money on the Boca talent.

However, competition from clubs like Milan and Benfica, which have shown to be outstanding destinations for top South American prospects, could be a concern.

To get Ezequiel Fernandez, Liverpool would have to fight hard.

Fernandez might be the newest player to depart the Argentine capital for a chance at the European stage. Few teams in South America have as strong a track record of development as Boca.

Some of the top football clubs are already vying to sign Fernandez, so Liverpool may have a fight on their shoulders if they want to get him.

The month of January will be important for Fernandez, and Liverpool will need to do every effort to sign the Argentine before Benfica and Milan.
