It was only natural for Jurgen Klopp and Jorg Schmadtke, two of Liverpool’s major decision-makers who have vast Bundesliga experience, to focus on the quality available in Germany.

With Christian Falk reporting the Reds’ keen interest in Bayern star Jamal Musiala, it appears that the German top division will help Liverpool grow their roster.

“Jürgen Klopp, the German coach of Liverpool, and Jörg Schmadtke, the sports director, are once more considering the Bundesliga. This may severely irritate FC Bayern due to three different personalities. The exclusive Fact Files column for CaughtOffside was written by the BILD correspondent.

“The most significant: Jamal Musiala is a target for Liverpool.

“The Reds don’t want to miss out on the next player from the Bundesliga who was raised in England after Jude Bellingham.”

In recent years, the Anfield-based team has played the Bavarian giants rather frequently, with exchanges involving Sadio Mane, Thiago Alcantara, and Ryan Gravenberch.

The question of whether the Bundesliga-holders would put up with losing yet another highly-regarded player so quickly is totally different.

Naturally, our objective is to prevent a situation like the one with Jude Bellingham, where we dropped out for financial reasons and Real Madrid ended up effectively securing his signing.

We’re confident that many Liverpool supporters would be willing to forgive and forget the loss of England’s generational talent should we go ahead and sign Germany’s next great shining light, assuming the player’s demands aren’t wholly excessive.

Musiala will likely have plenty of possible suitors to select from next summer if he can build on his accomplishment of 16 goals and 16 assists from last term.
