Assan Ouedraogo, a teenage German midfielder, has drawn interest from Liverpool, but should they decide to make a move, they would likely encounter competition.
In the middle of the park, the Reds underwent a significant overhaul during the summer that resulted in the departure of five senior midfielders and the addition of four new players.
The club doesn’t necessarily seem to be through with that procedure however, since there are still rumours of a January transfer for Andre of Fluminense.
Another player whose name has reportedly drawn Liverpool’s eye is Ouedraogo, a 17-year-old who has put on a string of outstanding performances for 2. Bundesliga outfit Schalke.
Sky The Reds, AC Milan, Everton, and Brighton are among the teams identified by German Florian Plettenberg as potential bidders.
In Schalke’s 5-3 loss to Hamburg in the club’s season opener back in July, Ouedraogo made history twice by becoming the club’s youngest player to play and score.
Plettenberg has stated that the kid would be available to foreign teams for about £17.3 million; champions Bayern Munich of Germany are allegedly also keeping an eye on the player’s condition.
The teenager has been a bright spot in Schalke’s challenging start to the season, as they now sit in 16th place in the German second division. He normally plays as an attacking midfielder for Schalke.
Ouedraogo was given his debut by manager Christian Wuck last year and has since earned 15 caps for his nation’s U17 team.
The U17 Euros were won by his team in five of those outings, and his goal in the semi-final helped them defeat Poland 5-3 to win the championship.
When it comes to choosing his next step, the young player is probably going to have a lot of offers on the table, but he gives Liverpool a great option for the future should he choose Anfield as his new home.
Jorg Schmadtke, the interim sporting director, was hired back in May with the intention of concentrating recruitment efforts on the “German market,” with three of the four summer purchases coming from that region.
It remains to be seen if Ouedraogo will be the most recent player to make that transition, but if rumours are to be believed, it appears the hectic summer has not discouraged the Reds from making other midfield queries.
