Saudi Arabia is still interested in Mohamed Salah, which is a worry for Liverpool.
Liverpool was solidly positioned in fourth place in the Premier League standings going into the break, only three points behind champions Tottenham Hotspur and their rivals Arsenal in second.
The Reds lost a number of key players during the summer transfer window, but they were able to add four new midfielders to reorganise the backbone of the team. However, the obvious worry about Saudi Arabia’s interest in Mohamed Salah persists, and Jurgen Klopp may need to start looking for a replacement soon.
The month of January is drawing near, and if Salah is going anywhere soon, Liverpool will need to think about their choices. However, there aren’t many players who can fill Salah’s position and produce comparable results.
‘Fears of considerable interest’ from the Reds have reportedly prompted Bayern Munich to start contract negotiations with Leroy Sané.
The winger was a formidable opponent at Manchester City, and he has carried on his outstanding play in Germany. Sané scored seven goals in his 11 games so far this season, adding to his 14 goals and 10 assists from the previous campaign across all competitions. Although he prefers to play on the right wing, he can also play in the attacking midfield position and on the left.
If Salah is expected to leave the Reds, they must sign a player with similar scoring and helping abilities. Sané’s statistics and adaptability, both of which are comparable to Salah’s, are undoubtedly noteworthy. The 27-year-old is claimed to have a ‘great admirer’ in Klopp, and Bayern are eager to reach a new contract with their top player.
As it stands, Sané’s current deal will end in 2025. Transfermarkt has him pegged at €65 million (£55.8 million), but Bayern would probably demand much more to even coax them into parting ways with the playmaker.
