According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Liverpool are at the front of the queue to reach an agreement on a deal for Andre to leave Fluminense during the January transfer window.

In an interview with Talking Transfers, Bailey said that Liverpool sent scouts to observe the 22-year-old play last week.

The Reds underwent substantial midfield surgery in the offseason. Several key players left, including Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita.

In the interim, they welcomed Ryan Gravenberch, Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Alexis Mac Allister. However, further work is still needed.

The first few games of the year have demonstrated that Jurgen Klopp’s team still lacks a suitable holding midfielder. Playing the part has so far proven challenging for Mac Allister. Therefore, it wouldn’t be unexpected if they considered strengthening even more in January.

Liverpool closely monitoring Andre

Andre might be the player for whom they make a major play. They seem to be paying extremely close attention to his improvement, according to Bailey. Additionally, a winter departure is anticipated.

He told Talking Transfers that “many people think he’s the best defensive midfielder in the Brazilian top flight at the moment.”

“Our understanding is that they watched the Copa Libertadores semifinal in person. They would have been thrilled to see Andre lead a 2-1 victory over Internacional in the return match. They won the match against Boca Juniors and advanced to the final because of it.

“He is actually one of the items scheduled for January. And if he stays in Fluminense, I’ll be shocked. Do you mean Liverpool? They seem to be at the front of the queue.

“He will undoubtedly depart Fluminense in January. Additionally, he very well could show up at Anfield.”

Liverpool has re-entered the title race and is just one world-class holding midfielder away from becoming a legitimate title contender once more. They have a lineup of attacking possibilities that could one day challenge the combination of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mo Salah.

And Alisson is still among the world’s top goalkeepers.

They have made some outstanding midfield acquisitions. The Premier League has allowed Mac Allister to establish himself. Szoboszlai, meantime, has so far been a revelation. Additionally, Gravenberch appears to be very talented.

However, they are lacking a player who is close to reaching their peak who can stand in front of the defence and shield them.

For a while, Fabinho was regarded as one of the finest in the world. Additionally, he has not yet been replaced.

To expect Andre to fill that hole would be a big ask. But it’s obvious that Liverpool think he’s someone they should pay paying attention to.
