Liverpool believes they have a young player who can carry on Ben Doak’s legacy.

Doak, who joined Liverpool from Celtic last summer, has seen a meteoric ascent. The Scotsman, who is only 17 years old, is now an official first-team player for Jurgen Klopp.

In little than a year, he went from being a 16-year-old to a senior team player. The Athletic reports that Liverpool thinks they may have another player who is capable of doing the same.

They assert that there are “high hopes” for Trent Kone-Doherty, 17, to follow in Doak’s footsteps and develop into a first-team player.

In August, the teenager scored on his Liverpool U21s debut. On Saturday, he scored three goals for the U18s in his most recent game. Watch this one.

Optimistic about Kone-Doherty

In recent years, Liverpool’s recruitment at the academy level has been flawless.

Doak and maybe Kone-Doherty are simply the most recent players to make a name for themselves after joining the team from somewhere else.

Others who have been acquired by Liverpool include Harvey Elliott, Stefan Bajcetic, Kaide Gordon, and Bobby Clark.

This summer, they appear to have treated Trey Nyoni and Amara Nallo similarly.

Kone-Doherty has been at Anfield for more than a year, and it’s obvious that he’s had a major impact there as well.

The president of the Irishman’s old team, Derry City [The Athletic], called him “unbelievable,” and it is obvious that he has a really unique gift.

But patience must be practised. Every child develops at a different rate. Kone-Doherty shouldn’t be measured against Doak. But perhaps we’ll soon have a choice of another Trent for Jurgen.
