According to reports cited by Football Insider, Liverpool is still interested in signing Fluminense midfielder Andre before the January transfer market opens.
The Reds completed a significant midfield makeover in the summer, but there is still work to be done, as another offer for the 22-year-old is anticipated in the winter.
In August, Football Insider reported that Liverpool had numerous offers for Andre from Fluminense rejected.
However, the Merseysiders will make another attempt in January in the hopes of acquiring the midfielder.
On Monday (9 October), Football Insider reported that Liverpool were prioritising a deal for Andre and were not likely to spend a lot of money on a transfer for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.
In order to win the first-ever Copa Libertadores championship in history, Fluminense was eager to hold onto the midfielder until the midseason transfer window.
They have subsequently advanced to the competition’s final, which will take place on November 4 in Brazil against Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors.
Andre has made a total of 48 appearances this year in all leagues, scoring once, and the Brazilian season isn’t even scheduled to conclude until December.
Since making his professional debut in September 2020 for childhood club Fluminense, he has played in 156 games overall.
The 22-year-old’s deal is valid through the end of December 2026.
Andre was a member of the team for Brazil’s matches last month after making his senior debut earlier this year against Senegal.
Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch were all acquired by fourth-placed Liverpool in the Premier League during the summer transfer window.
After Liverpool struck a deal that changed the game, FSG’s £74 million plan was made public.
