Unstoppable
When he played for Liverpool, Luis Suarez was a delight to watch.
The Uruguayan international joined from Ajax in January 2011 and went on to become one of the best performers in Premier League history before ultimately agreeing to join Barcelona in 2014.
Though none of his 31 goals in 33 games came from the penalty spot, his final campaign with the Reds turned out to be his greatest one. He also added 12 assists.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for Brendan Rodgers’ team to go on and win the title because a shocking meltdown against Crystal Palace, in which they gave up a 3-0 lead, proved to be their undoing and Manchester City rushed in and won the trophy.
Suarez put on several outstanding performances, like as his four-goal haul against Norwich City in December and his two-goal, two-assist 5-0 thrashing of Tottenham.
Suarez and Daniel Sturridge developed a potent relationship that earned them the moniker “SAS,” and the pair went on to win the PFA Player of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards.
As fans reminisced about seeing the Uruguayan, one person shared a highlights reel of the forward’s best plays from that season.
“Honestly, I’ve never seen another player quite like Suarez. I adore Salah to death, but Suarez was in a different league,” one supporter remarked.
A second remarked, “I can’t disagree, but Thierry Henry runs him close in the Premier League. Salah’s first season was also legendary. The best striker in the Premier League era, in my opinion, is Luis Suarez.”
Another person commented, “In almost 40 years of following the Reds, I’ve never enjoyed watching a player more.”
