Stephen Warnock, a pundit, has identified the ‘one guy’ who might take Mohamed Salah’s place at Liverpool.
Salah’s long-term future at Anfield is a subject of much speculation following the Saudi Pro League’s intense interest during the summer.
Liverpool ultimately rejected an offer of almost £150 million made to Al Ittihad. When Darren Bent on TalkSPORT asked the former Red Warnock if he would transfer Salah for that kind of money in the near future, Warnock replied that there would need to be a replacement lined up and named the man he believes is capable of doing so.
“I wouldn’t sell him in this season, maybe next season but you’d have to have somebody lined up,” began the pundit.
“The one player who springs to mind is [Khvicha] Kvaratskhelia at Napoli.
Liverpool is advised to sign Kvara
Few individuals were aware of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s magical abilities at this time last year. But in a year, he might be able to join any squad in the planet.
He may have lost some steam towards the conclusion of the season, but he was still a major contributor to Napoli winning the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years.
Everyone was talking about “Kvaradona” after his 12 goals and 10 assists in Serie A, and the traditional elite of Europe, including Liverpool, have all been mentioned.
Napoli has been committed to holding onto the 22-year-old thus far. It had been suggested that an £87 million fee would be required to get him away from Southern Italy. But if Liverpool were to sell Salah, coming up with that amount of cash wouldn’t be a huge issue.
The Reds recruitment staff would undoubtedly be happy to pay it if they agreed with Warnock that Kvaratskhelia was the right person to replace Mo.
However, Liverpool hasn’t always chosen the obvious course of action. Even if the Georgian is more of a left-sided, right-footed winger, as Warnock notes, he would still be a rather obvious, blockbuster acquisition.
