Following the release of the VAR audio, which revealed a significant error was made in not allowing Luis Diaz’s goal to stand, Jurgen Klopp asked for the match to be replayed on Wednesday. This request came as a result of the ongoing repercussions from Liverpool’s victory against Tottenham on Saturday.
The recording demonstrated that not only was a critical mistake committed, but that the officials were also aware of it right away and powerless to correct it.
While acknowledging that a rematch is improbable, Klopp said during his news conference today that he thinks the incident merits one.
According to the Liverpool manager, “Something like this never happened, so that is why I think a replay is the right thing to do,” as reported by the BBC.
The Premier League will not replay Tottenham vs. Liverpool, according to the BBC, and it is unknown whether the Merseyside club has made an official request for it.
When asked if the team had requested or would request a rematch from the Premier League, Klopp responded, “At this stage, we are still going through the information we have.”
This will probably continue over the next few days because one of the largest errors in VAR history needs to result in a successful conclusion.
