Since the tragic events at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Liverpool has been waiting for explanations as to why Luis Diaz’s goal was disallowed. Now, there has been a significant development in the situation.

Liverpool have finally received the VAR audio from Saturday’s game at Tottenham, according to Neil Jones on X, and will take the time necessary to review.

It’s difficult to help but wonder what could have been done with the file in the 65 hours that passed between this social media post and London’s full-time whistle.

The story of a check that was misinterpreted as a goal and not one that had previously been disallowed for offside has already gained a lot of attention; now the audio must support the story.

Unbelievably, it took this long to be revealed, and now all we can do is wait to hear what the club has to say after carefully reviewing it, which we know they will do.

The two officials who will undoubtedly face the greatest scrutiny are VAR Darren England and linesman Dan Cook, which is ironic given that they were the only two squad members to have officiated in the UAE only 48 hours before to our match against Spurs.

Whether we will ever have access to the tape is still uncertain, but transparency would be the greatest approach to rebuild trust in the PGMOL following a so-called “public and damaging” error.

Howard Webb has also been startlingly silent, and the former South Yorkshire Police Sergeant has distanced himself from the media now that it’s not being discussed how fantastic he and his colleagues are.

Answers will be provided soon, and let’s hope that this turns out to be nothing more nefarious than a serious error in judgement.
