Before it is made public, Liverpool will listen to the VAR audio for Luis Diaz’s Saturday goal that was called back.

The Reds have asked to hear the officials’ conversation after they incorrectly chalked off Diaz’s goal against Tottenham Hotspur for offside.

And that request, according to journalist Miguel Delaney, has been fulfilled. Delaney, reporting via Twitter, claims that there are still a few procedures to complete before the tapes may be heard by a larger audience.

The journalist says, “PGMOL is giving Liverpool the audio.”

“It will be reviewed before it’s made public, but that will also happen — and may very well be before Webb’s Mic’d Up Show.”

Diaz audio will be released by PGMOL
It’s intriguing that PGMOL is giving Liverpool access to these tapes before anyone else, but it doesn’t seem essential.

Delaney maintains that there is little use in doing that because the audio will eventually be made public.

The only genuine justification for giving the Reds the benefit of the doubt is that it’s possible they’re hoping Liverpool would declare that they’ve had enough and that the rest of the world doesn’t need to know what happened.

But at this time, the public interest in the tale is just too great for it to happen. Everyone—fans, analysts, and others—needs to know what was stated at this point.

It’s uncertain exactly what will take place next. However, the initial step was always to clearly hear what VAR Darren England, his assistant Dan Cook, and on-field referee Simon Hooper were saying.

It remains to be seen if that will satisfy Liverpool. Though it’s unlikely that anything offered by the officials could appease the Reds.

Whatever the case, a grave error was nevertheless made. It seems like the audio we hear will only serve to increase PGMOL’s embarrassment rather than make things easier for them. Let’s go for it.
