After a VAR error incorrectly disallowed Luis Diaz’s goal, Liverpool fell to Tottenham 2-1 in a disputed match. The Reds are still feeling the affects of the heated encounter.

Cody Gakpo will be out for a few weeks with an injury, so Liverpool is still dealing with the effects of their contentious weekend loss to Tottenham.

The 24-year-old sustained a wound when netting Liverpool’s equaliser at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium late in the first half. At halftime, he was replaced by Diogo Jota, and he was later seen leaving the pitch wearing a knee brace.

The former PSV forward could be sidelined until the next month, according to Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink. Three senior stars will be absent for Jurgen Klopp’s team when they play Brighton at the weekend due to the injury.

After Liverpool’s Europa League match against Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday, Jota and Curtis Jones, who were both dismissed against Spurs, will start serving their suspensions. Jones will lose three games after receiving a straight red for a challenge that was first given a yellow card but was enhanced after VAR’s intervention, while Jota will serve a one-match suspension after being expelled after receiving two contentious yellow cards.
