Following the loss to Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool may be subject to a fine from the FA, and Alexis MacAllister may be in trouble for an Instagram post that has since been deleted.

After being reduced to nine men, Jurgen Klopp’s team lost to Spurs in the dying seconds on Saturday, ending the Reds’ streak of victories dating back to April.

Disputed and demonstrably wrong refereeing calls ruined the game, most notably the disallowance of Luis Diaz’s first-half goal due to what PGMOL called “significant human error.”

Following the match, Klopp referred to it as the most “unfair” match he had ever participated in. In response to PGMOL’s admission, Liverpool has since issued a forceful statement.

In addition to dropping the match in the most egregious of ways, Liverpool now faces sanctions for Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota, who were fired, and there are doubts over Cody Gakpo’s fitness after the forward left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a leg brace.

FA FINE INCOMING?

In addition to all of that, it has been stated that the FA may fine the Reds £25,000 for indiscipline as a form of punishment.

During the game, Peter Krawietz, the assistant manager, Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Virgil van Dijk all received cautions. Jota was also removed after collecting two yellow cards, while Jones was given a straight red.

The Liverpool Echo noted that the FA normally fines clubs who receive more than five cautions in a game, with a £25,000 fine being the most regular penalty.

Given the circumstances—PGMOL chief Howard Webb apologised to the club after the game—it is unclear whether the FA will be forgiving of Liverpool.

In the meantime, Mac Allister ran the possibility of attracting separate FA investigation for a since-deleted Instagram post that might have been seen as casting doubt on referee Simon Hooper’s objectivity.

The Liverpool number 10 commented on Cristiano Romero’s post applauding his Spurs squad for their dramatic victory over the Argentina national team.

“This team has great spirit and heart,” Romero remarked. Always the same, collectively. Mac Allister answered, “Normal when you play with 12,” to which.

The comment was later removed by Mac Allister.

In April, Klopp received a two-game touchline suspension for allegedly accusing referee Paul Tierney of harbouring animosity towards Liverpool during Liverpool’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Spurs.
