The season-long winning streak for Liverpool is over.
The Reds can take comfort in the fact that it took all of that to eventually lose a game, even though it may have happened in the cruellest way possible in the midst of the controversy.
Once more, Liverpool appears to be a legitimate contender, and as October approaches, they’ll need to maintain the tenacity they’ve displayed thus far in the season.
Here are the upcoming five games for Liverpool.
LIVERPOOL VS UNION SAINT-GILLOISE – EUROPA LEAGUE
After winning their opening Europa League match away at LASK, Liverpool hosts Belgian team Union SG in their first home Europa League match since May 2016 (when Roberto Firmino spun Roberto Soldado in the 3-0 semifinal victory over Villarreal).
Although Jurgen Klopp has pledged to field a strong lineup in Europe, adjustments are likely given that this match is wedged between two difficult away days in the Premier League.

BRIGHTON VS LIVERPOOL – PREMIER LEAGUE
In their final Premier League game before the subsequent international break, Liverpool will travel to Brighton in an effort to bounce back from their loss to Spurs.
Roberto De Zerbi’s team has had a mixed start to the season, winning five out of seven games while also suffering crushing losses to Aston Villa and West Ham. However, they have defeated Liverpool in their last two meetings.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and his supporters may find some solace in the fact that Brighton will play their Europa League match at home while the Reds travel to Marseille for a difficult away match three days prior.

LIVERPOOL VS EVERTON – PREMIER LEAGUE
It remains to be seen if the 13 days between the trip to Brighton and the first Merseyside Derby of 2023–24 will be a useful break or a momentum killer.
Everton has been in terrible form lately, even losing to Luton at home last weekend, and the Toffees have only triumphed once in the last 28 meetings with Liverpool across all competitions.
After the extension construction was delayed, it is hoped that this match would be the first time Liverpool has Anfield at full capacity.

LIVERPOOL VS TOULOUSE – EUROPA LEAGUE
The return of Europa League competition provides the Reds with a change of pace following the derby.
Toulouse is presently 11th in France’s Ligue 1, and Liverpool defeated Toulouse 4-0 the previous time these two teams met in 2007.
Expect a lot of rotation and a chance for players like Jarell Quansah and Ben Doak to once again show off their skills.

LIVERPOOL VS NOTTINGHAM FOREST – PREMIER LEAGUE
In their third and final Premier League match of the month, Liverpool will face Nottingham Forest, who are presently coached by former Reds youth coach Steve Cooper and are ranked 11th in the league.
Last season’s matchup between these two featured Taiwo Awoniyi, another Liverpool-connected player, who scored the game’s lone goal. In April, Klopp’s team prevailed in a nail-biting 3-2 decision at Anfield.
