This season, Kelechi Iheanacho has made 9 appearances for Leicester City across all competitions, recording 2 goals and 2 assists.
According to Soccernet.ng, Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has stated that he and his teammates are prepared to compete against high-flying Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp when the two teams face off at Anfield on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup third round.
On the other hand, Jurgen Klopp’s Red have also had an outstanding start to the season, winning six of their first seven games and climbing to second place in the Premier League, just two points behind league leaders Manchester City.
Leicester will visit Anfield in the second tier this season after playing the Merseyside club in the Premier League in the past.
Iheanacho believes that despite appearing to be the underdog, his team is capable of competing with their opponents, so the divisional gap between the two sides shouldn’t be a cause for discouragement.
He said:
‘We are excited. We know what Anfield is like. It’s a great atmosphere there. We are not going there for the atmosphere, we are going there to complete, the Nigerian forward revealed on Leicester City’s website
We played them in the pre-season and we’re in a good place now. We’re winning games. It’s a cup game, but we know what they’re like. They’re a strong side, they’ve been doing well in the Premier League.
They’re going to be strong for us, but we need to really work hard to get the win. Hopefully we’ll do that so let’s see what comes out of that. They press really well. We have to be careful of that as well.
We will try to give them a game, but we know they’re a strong side.
In this early stage of the season, the 26-year-old has participated in all but one of the Foxes’ games, scoring twice and providing an assist each of his nine appearances.
