Ryan Gravenberch received plaudits from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after making his club debut in last night’s 3-1 victory over LASK.

The 21-year-old played a key part in the middle of the field and even beautifully set up Luis Diaz to give Liverpool its first lead of the game.

Despite making his first start in four months, the Dutchman put in a strong performance before limping off in the second half.

When they witnessed the 21-year-old midfielder being replaced, Liverpool fans expressed alarm; however, Klopp maintains that the issue was merely cramp and not a major one.

‘Super’ Ryan Gravenberch: Jurgen Klopp
The Liverpool manager was keen to acknowledge the 21-year-old after his performance when speaking to TNT Sports following the victory.

“Ryan Gravenberch performed a fantastic game and was extremely important for our team.

“It was his first start in a while, and he performed admirably. (He played) extremely well.

“He was the best player on the field for a while, but in the first half, his irritation level rose a little and you could see him slipping a little.

“But that’s normal; these things happen,” a spectator said. “But he stayed in the game as long as he could and had really good moments, set up a good goal for Luis Diaz, and for not knowing a lot about his team-mates it looked pretty tuned.”

The Reds’ match against West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday will be Gravenberch’s maiden Premier League start attempt.
