Virgil Van Dijk was “proud” of Youngster Quansah’s performance against Wolves.

The 20-year-old center-back prospect Jarell Quansah received high praise from Liverpool’s star defender Virgil van Dijk after his strong Premier League performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Van Dijk commended the young English center back during a news conference prior to Liverpool’s next Europa League match against LASK, according to journalist @DaveOCKOP.

“On the weekend he was outstanding in my opinion. The amount of time he played he was outstanding. I was very proud of him.”

Quansah complemented van Dijk in Liverpool’s backline against Wolverhampton despite his youth and inexperience. He contributed to the Reds’ impressive performance at the Molineux Stadium by maintaining his composure and displaying his defensive prowess.

After spending six months on loan at Bristol Rovers, Quansah recently made his debut for Liverpool’s senior team against Newcastle United after replacing Joel Matip. But he has already left a great impression.

The 20-year-old made his Premier League debut with the Reds in 2021 after joining the team when he was five years old. Joey Barton, Quansah’s former coach at Bristol, gave him high praise and predicted that he would become one of the best players in the future.

If Quansah keeps progressing at his current rate, he might soon join the ranks of other Liverpool academy graduates who have achieved success. Liverpool’s dedication to supporting youth has been demonstrated by Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, and others.

Van Dijk was obviously happy to guide his adolescent understudy on a dream debut. Quansah’s natural potential could help him secure a long-term spot in Liverpool’s squad with the veteran’s tutelage.

Quansah will be hoping to get the start against LASK in the Reds’ upcoming Europa League matchup after receiving this vote of confidence from his team’s captain. It’s time for him to factor himself into the first-team equation more frequently now that he’s made his Reds debut.
