Because of how well-liked his new manager is by his colleagues, Jurgen Klopp, according to Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, jokes about being like his father.
The Argentine midfielder has been discussing his time at Anfield since moving there in the summer with La Nacion in his home country.
He left Brighton & Hove Albion for a big transfer fee, and Liverpool acted fast to recruit him as they rebuilt their midfield.
He quickly established himself as a crucial member of the team and has been a star in each of their games thus far, with even a red card failing to derail things.
Since Mac Allister’s appointment, the Reds manager has frequently been shown hugging and celebrating with his players.
But at least in the eyes of his Liverpool colleagues, it appears that things may have progressed a little farther with Mac Allister.
“The relationship is obviously 10 points, I just arrived and when you just arrive everything is easier and goes perfect,” he stated.
“But several of my teammates make fun of me because they claim he is now my father. He is a really personable individual that always strives to be close to the players, therefore the connection with him is excellent.
“You can’t stop giggling when he has insane moments like you may see in a game. It makes me happy to be able to work with him.”
His Liverpool colleagues’ taunting has only gotten worse over the past week as they believe they have more support for their accusations.
“Well, they’ve caught me now, since I was the only South American to play in the last match after we returned from the national team. Then they informed me that I had completed all of the games, he was my father, and he was unable to take me out. Consequently, they made me insane.
“But beyond the joke, the relationship is spectacular, he is a person that I respect, that I respect very much, and I hope that he continues like this and that I can continue learning from him on the field.”
