As the 2024 NFL Draft unfolded, the San Francisco 49ers made a bold move by selecting wide receiver Ricky Pearsall with the 31st pick, sparking intense speculation about the futures of their star receivers, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.

Longtime Niners reporter Michael Silver delved into the swirling rumors, suggesting that the team may be more inclined to entertain offers for Samuel, especially with reports indicating interest from the New England Patriots, who were still in the market for a wide receiver.

However, amidst the speculation, it was Aiyuk’s response that drew attention. Following the selection of Pearsall, Aiyuk reportedly sent a message to the 49ers’ brass, expressing his approval of the pick. General Manager John Lynch shared Aiyuk’s message, stating, “Fire pick, I can’t lie,” indicating Aiyuk’s support for the decision despite the trade rumors surrounding him.

In response to the speculation surrounding potential trades, Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan moved swiftly to address the situation. While they didn’t completely rule out the possibility of a deal, Lynch emphasized that contract talks with Aiyuk were progressing positively, signaling the team’s commitment to their talented receiver.

“While anything can happen in the NFL, it would take a significant offer to pry Samuel or Aiyuk away from the 49ers,” Lynch asserted.

With Aiyuk’s endorsement of the Pearsall pick and the team’s reaffirmed commitment to their star receivers, the 49ers appear poised to maintain their offensive firepower for the foreseeable future.
