Every time the slugger for the New York Mets goes yard, Pete Alonso will donate $1,000 to animal shelters. The three-time All-Star declared his excitement for the initiative launched by the Alonso Foundation on Saturday, expressing his gratitude for the kind donation.
Alonso gave some background information about the project, explaining that the money would be used to assist in removing animals from kill shelters, especially dogs. Donations for beds, blankets, and other supplies, as well as for transportation, will be given to multiple rescues.
“Hopefully there’s a lot of homers and we get to save a lot of animals,” said Alonso
Alonso’s contract with the Mets, which is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, has been the main topic of discussion during the offseason. The 29-year-old has been with the New York Mets since he was drafted in 2016 and has played for them for his entire five-year MLB career. The team has been rebuilding after a dismal 2023 campaign, and they have let go of a number of prominent players and big contracts over the past year. The fan-favorite first baseman’s future with the Mets is still up in the air.Giving $1000 to animal shelters is a commendable gesture from a player who is well-known for his charitable endeavors.
