Since LeBron James and Anthony Davis started got together, your Los Angeles Lakers have been looking for a third star to complement them. The organization is set up that way, and they keep searching the league for opportunities to make that happen.
In recent years, a few names have surfaced, but no deal has been reached, partly because the Lakers lack viable trade assets. But, depending on how they handle the approaching trade deadline, the franchise may be preparing for a major announcement this summer.
The name Trae Young, an All-Star guard with the Atlanta Hawks, has always been associated with the Lakers. Young would provide the Lakers with a real star to focus on both now and in the future.
Young, according to NBA expert Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, would be open to a trade to the Lakers at any point.
“Trae Young would likely welcome a trade to Los Angeles at any time.”
The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor claims
Fans would be thrilled to see Young in the purple and gold; he is box office stuff. He is a real great player and would provide them with their finest three-point shooter in a long time.
The post-James era would be considered if the Lakers made the move for Young. He and Davis might be a formidable tandem for Los Angeles to develop around for the foreseeable future.
Young and Davis’ pick-and-roll combination would be explosive, and the offense would probably function effectively. Young is an excellent provider of assists to his teammates, providing the Lakers with a real offensive weapon to run the court.
