This offseason, the New York Mets have already made improvements to the team.

The state of New York is a lot better than it was when the offseason first started. The Mets had a lackluster 2023 season, but despite not making a big acquisition, they have made a number of incremental moves that could pay off.

Though the team doesn’t seem to be on par with World Series contenders like the Los Angeles Dodgers or New York Yankees, the Mets should be better in 2024. It appears that the Mets will have a better chance of competing in 2025.

Two-time All-Star Brandon Woodruff is one free agent who has been mentioned as a potential fit for the Mets, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

“The Mets have done a nice job overall deepening a thin rotation and have the best (National League) closer, but the bridge between the starters and their closer still looks unstable, at best,” Heyman stated. “The Mets should consider Brandon Woodruff as a potential starter in 2025, as he is expected to be healthy and back to his elite level. He is from Milwaukee, as Mets president David Stearns is aware.”

Woodruff appears to be a very good option who might fit into New York’s World Series aspirations. The 30-year-old will not participate in the 2024 season, but he will be back on the mound in 2025.
