During the game against the Green Bay Packers, Deebo Samuel injured his shoulder. The status of the outstanding 49ers wide receiver is still unknown.

The dynamic Deebo Samuel did not play in all of his team’s victory over the Green Bay Packers this past weekend for the San Francisco 49ers. San Francisco did not emerge from the NFC Divisional Round without suffering some attrition, even as the 49ers celebrated yet another victory. Samuel did not play in the second half and left the game early. Despite having a shoulder injury, imaging tests on him did not reveal any signs of a fracture.

The 49ers defeated the troublesome Packers even without Deebo. With their win, San Francisco is guaranteed to compete for the NFC’s spot in the Super Bowl the following weekend. Will the prolific Samuel be present, though?

Speaking to the media this week following the team’s victory on Saturday was 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. Shanahan provided an update on Samuel, stating that they will be managing the situation day by day.

NFL.com wrote, “As for his availability for the NFC Championship Game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, that remains to be seen. Samuel underwent imaging that showed no fracture, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Monday. Shanahan added that it will not be until at least Wednesday that the 49ers will begin to have a better idea as to Samuel’s potential availability.”

When Samuel is in the lineup, other teams have a lot of trouble and problems. He might play a key role in the 49ers’ quest to return to the Super Bowl. Thus, his appearance—or absence—will be a major plot point to follow this week.
