Ahkello Witherspoon, the top cornerback for the Rams, is expected to play against the Saints.
Ahkello Witherspoon, a cornerback for the Los Angeles Rams, is having a career year and positioning himself for a large salary in 2024, but the former 49ers and Steelers player has always struggled with injuries. Witherspoon’s groin injury sustained in Sunday’s victory over the Washington Commanders may have resurfaced this week, but team writer Stu Jackson has reported that the team’s top cornerback will be available for Thursday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
Having Witherspoon available in a key game concerning the wild card race is vital given how teammates like Derion Kendrick have performed this season.
This season, Witherspoon has 13 passes defensed and three interceptions, including two more against Washington in Week 15. It was almost his fourth interception as well. Witherspoon was only supposed to be a one-year backup cornerback, but if the Rams can afford him, he’s set himself up for a much longer-term role.
Receiver Tutu Atwell is another injured player who should be available. He was not present for Sunday’s game but has passed the concussion protocol.
