Despite losing to the Denver Nuggets on Monday night, bench guard Bogdan Bogdanovic gave the Atlanta Hawks a historic performance. Bogdanovic became just the second player in NBA history to score at least 40 points and make at least 10 threes off the bench in a game, joining J.R. Smith with 40 points and 10 made threes, according to StatMuse.

Unfortunately, Atlanta lost this game—their fourth straight—but thanks to Bogdanovic’s explosion, they gave the reigning champions a tough game.

It’s already impressive to score 40 points in a game, but it’s really amazing when you can do it off the bench and add 10 three-pointers. On Monday night, Bogdanovic achieved this, coming dangerously close to defeating the reigning champions in the process.

Before this win, both the Hawks and Denver had lost three straight games. The Nuggets were able to end their losing streak thanks to strong performances from Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, and they were able to resume winning.

Despite having a star in Trae Young at the center of things, the Hawks have been among the NBA’s biggest disappointments this season, finding it difficult to get much going. Despite Bogdanovic’s explosion, the Nuggets handled business admirably, not wanting to give up to these Hawks.
