In an attempt to cut into Dallas’ 24-6 lead, the Eagles drove into Cowboys territory after halftime on Sunday night, but they were unable to score any points.

Following a catch, Cowboys cornerback Stephon Gilmore took the ball away from Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown. The Cowboys recovered the fumble, their second of three turnovers in a 33-13 victory. Gilmore claimed after the game that Brown’s early trash talk had contributed to the play’s momentum-shifting element.

“I just didn’t like how he called me old at the beginning of the game,” Gilmore said, via the team’s website. “So it lit a fire in me a little bit. I was mad. The only thing I could do was show him I was still here, and I think I did that today. I’ve been doing this my whole career. Covering the best guy and following him. It’s exciting because you know the ball is coming your way. I get up for those types of moments.”

The Cowboys will need Gilmore to continue his strong play against Stephon Diggs, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle over the next two weeks. Gilmore had a great game against DK Metcalf in the Week 13 victory over the Seahawks. Come January, the Cowboys could host playoff games if he can manage it.
