Philadelphia Eagles fans are infamous for picking on opposing players when they visit Lincoln Financial Field. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers appears to be a target this time, especially after A.J. Brown gave Eagles supporters permission to make fun of Samuel.

On the I Am Athlete podcast, Samuel first referred to James Bradberry, the defensive back for the Eagles, as “trash” after Philadelphia defeated San Francisco in the NFC Championship game of the previous season. Prior to the rematch on Sunday, Samuel remained true to his remarks.

The fact that Brown is pushing Eagles supporters to tromp Samuel only serves to complicate matters. This is significant because Samuel has previously stated that the Eagles are his “most hated team” because of the players’ and fans’ constant trash talk.

The fact that the next game pits the second-seeded 49ers against the top-seeded Eagles in a rematch of the NFL Championship Game makes it noteworthy already. Gaining home-field advantage and an easier route to the Super Bowl will be largely dependent on the outcome for either team.
