Many have begun to urge the Los Angeles Lakers to make some roster upgrades in light of the team’s inconsistent start. Fans frequently express a desire for their beloved star Anthony Davis to move on from him because he hasn’t lived up to the irrational expectations placed on him.
Despite the wishes of many fans, the Lakers are not reading Davis, to start. However, true supporters are aware of his importance to this team. They’re not even close to a title without him.
In a recent interview, Fox Sports 1 NBA analyst Rachel Nichols discussed the Davis situation and stated unequivocally that she would never trade Davis.
“No, no. Without a doubt, I wouldn’t trade AD. And the explanation is that I am aware of Anthony Davis. Anthony Davis is not the player that many believe to be among the all-time greats. He’s amazing. As an NBA champion, he is. Although he is a fantastic player, he is not among the greatest.”
Being a top player, Davis is deserving of all the money that is being awarded to him. However, he isn’t the first choice that many people want and anticipate him to be.
James is still the best player on the Lakers, even though that doesn’t mean he can’t perform on any given night. That serves as a reminder of James’ amazing talent rather than as a jab at Davis.
When James and Davis work together, they form one of the NBA’s most formidable teams nowadays. The two have a great working relationship, and despite what some may think, James continues to be the Lakers’ face.
“He’s among the best number twos out there if you look around the league and at the one-two punches we have around the NBA.”
The Lakers would need to acquire another player ranked in the top 15 in the league in exchange for Davis. It’s not often that players like Davis become available, so LA is fortunate to have him on the team.
