He’s missed the past five games for a reeling Sacramento.

It appears that your Los Angeles Lakers will be playing a team that is recovering just in time to take on them this week, as is usually the case with them (or at least, it feels that way sometimes).

Sacramento Kings All-Star point guard De’Aaron Fox, who has missed his team’s last five games due to an ankle sprain, is hoping to get back on the court in time for the team’s game against the Lakers on Wednesday, if not sooner, according to sources that Shams Charania and Sam Amick of The Athletic have been notified of. The Kings have lost two games and drawn one during Fox’s absence.

In a team shoot-around today before tonight’s home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Fox was completely unrestricted. Amick and Charania suggest that Fox might even be able to make the fight.

Sacramento has had a more difficult than anticipated start to their 2023–24 season after securing the third seed in the West the previous season. The Kings are just.500 on the season (4-4) under second-year head coach Mike Brown, who was formerly of the Lakers, just like their Pacific Division rival Lakers (5-5).

The 6’3″ Kentucky product appeared to be continuing where he left off in his three healthy games this season. Fox was scoring 31.3 points a night on a shooting split of.486/.375/.810, with six assists, 4.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 0.7 blocks before the injury.
